Let's say it straight: Non-alcoholic beer has a terrible reputation. "Ah, that takes the fun out of it," "What's the point of that?", "I might as well drink water." But the truth is that no one wants to be left out anymore—and no one wants to wake up feeling terrible and regret the messages they sent at 2:53 a.m.
THIS IS WHERE WANNABE IS BORN
A beer with only 0.3% alcohol, with a name 100% inspired by the Spice Girls' girl power anthem. A Wannabe is MUSA's first non-alcoholic beer. A light, fresh, and balanced Blonde Ale for those who want to keep the party going, even when alcohol is not part of the equation. It's not a beer for those who "can't," it's a beer for those who want to.
It has moderate bitterness, evident citrus notes, and a clean finish. Produced with Magnum and Spalter hops, it reveals a mild aroma with hints of orange peel, floral notes, and a touch of cereal. The addition of orange peel and coriander seeds adds complexity without exaggeration. It is light but has personality. It is MUSA, so it is festive - zero boring.
MAYBE THE PROBLEM WITH NON-ALCOHOLIC BEER IS THIS: IT NEVER HAD ANY PERSONALITY.
BUT WANNABE HAS FIVE
If in 1996 each Spice had her own identity, in 2026 every person who drinks Wannabe will too. And you'll probably identify with at least one of them.
There is the raver, who doesn't need alcohol to dance all night with main character energy. There's the Corporate, who doesn't drink but always has a glass in her hand. There's the Sporty, who trains on Saturday mornings and was still the last to leave the club. There's the Chauffeur, the late-night Uber driver for all her friends. And there's Mommy, who is in a different phase of life but still enjoys a beer with her friends.
Because, imagine that, drinking has never been just about alcohol. Drinking is synonymous with a glass in your hand, it's the toast, it's "one more and let's go," it's not looking like the only one asking for water. And with 20 kcal per 100 ml? Believe me, your future self will thank you. With Wannabe, it becomes even clearer that MUSA is for everyone, not just for some. With or without alcohol, no one is excluded from the toast.
The beer will be available on tap at the four MUSA bars and in packs of 12 bottles at the online store.
If after all this you still think non-alcoholic beer is boring, we have two suggestions: come along and try it.
BETWEEN NIGHT AND DAY, THE PREMIERE TAKES PLACE IN TWO ACTS
On February 28, the Musa de Marvila welcomes POP! Right Now, with DJ sets, a packed dance floor, and a dance battle in partnership with Jazzy - with a €200 voucher for whoever rocks the dance floor. On March 1, the Musa da Bica extends the party and presents the most popular brunch of the year, with music curated by Gonçalo Afonso and cuisine by Dear Breakfast. Admission is free, as always!
If you're not from Lisbon, don't worry. You'll be able to find the Wannabe at MUSA das Virtudes (Porto) or MUSA da Praia (Sintra, near Praia das Maçãs), or order from the online store and officially begin your Spice era Spice era.
Tell me what you want, what you really, really want. We'll take care of the rest.
