During the month of November, Cerveja Musa will be selling its female-inspired beers 13.1% more expensive. This is the value of the wage gap between men and women in Portugal.
November 14 is the National Day for Equal Pay. Musa, in partnership with SHESAID.SO and COMON decided to raise their voices for this cause by creating not a Happy Hour, but an Unhappy Hour. If women are "worth less" by 13.1%, let's pay the difference and show how much inequality costs. A form of protest with purpose.
The beers in question will be Blondie Ale, Saison O'Connor and the new IPAtti Smith - a Cold IPA conceived for the date and whose label was designed by the incredible @duma_ova.
The campaign will take place in Musa bars between November 14th and 18th, and in our online store, from the 10th until the end of November. Here, in addition to the 3 beers, sold in packs of 12, the campaign also applies to the Unhappy Pack - a pack of 6 beers specially created for the occasion.
Although the main aim of the campaign is to put this issue on the agenda, highlighting a subject that is still so little discussed and debated, we want the "monetary" results of this campaign to make a difference to some women (even if only 6). Thus, the total amount of this 13.1% raised by the public, plus 13.1% of the value of the UnHappy Pack donated by Musa, will be offered to SHESAID.SO which, in collaboration with Skoola, will offer 6 women a Beats, Rhymes & DJing Workshop (6 sessions over 1 month) + 4 mentoring sessions. You can find all the information about the prize here.
UNHAPPY HOUR - The event
To stir things up, we've decided to hold an event where we'll hear the experiences and ideas of more than a dozen people connected to the world of music, as well as the songs that illustrate our revolution.
The event will start around 1pm at Musa de Marvila and will be filled with DJ sets by people who inspire us and who, like us, think it's time to ask for more.
In addition to the music, at 4 p.m. we'll sit around the Unhappy Table with a group of 12 guests who, moderated by the incredible Inês Lopes Gonçalves, will share experiences, opinions, dilemmas and possible actions and solutions.
